The blog title is probably a little misleading. There was no jelly and ice cream at my party on Saturday. There were hundreds of people having a jolly good time though, maybe 250/300 in total ?
I saw loads of old faces that came out just to help me celebrate, and a lot of the crew who religiously join me for a good old knees up. Respect has to go out to everyone one of you.
The music all night was on point, a special mention to Andy Comarsh and “Soul” Emma Yeap for their debut club sets. Despite being non DJs, Emma started the night wonderfully and Andy also came correct, although she did put him to shame with her tight mixing as opposed to his stop/start business. Nevertheless, the stage was set perfectly for Pugwash to then throw down some awesome 80’s grooves. I then played one or two tracks and was joined by Patrick Smoove who also dropped some classics, before Miloe finished off the night on a high, sticking to his brief and playing familiar yet uplifting soulful house cuts. As I am sure you can tell, much of the night is a blur so thank goodness for photographic evidence.
Take a look at the wonderful photo album of Soul Kitty here.
I will be sharing recordings of the sets over the next few weeks, I think splitting each set will be the way to go so keep your eyes on the podcast. Talking of podcasts, there may be an issue for one or two of you in obtaining the latest episodes, thanks to John Spoor for bringing this to my attention. It’s either an issue for one or two people as no one else has mentioned it, or John is the only person who actually bothers to listen to the shows !!
