Warehouse days

Much of the content  is removed from the server after a few weeks.

Most radio shows and mixes should be available on my Mixcloud Channel or YouTube Archives

If there is anything specific you are after that you cannot find, get in touch as I hopefully have it saved on my Hard Drive.

Warehouse days

Let me tell you a story…

Music has always been a special part of my life, my Dad loved music and my earliest memories are listening to Motown classics, Trojan anthems and Soul gems from George Benson and the likes.  Going out in Birmingham, we were exposed first of all to 80’s classic soul, slowly progressing into Hip Hop/Electro and then House Music.  It was a natural progression, anyone from that era knew, or at least recognised, everyone from the scene.  Too many clubs to mention, too many DJs to name check.
It’s a very condensed passage here, but for me, I recall going to a place called Bonker’s one Friday night, and then being taken to a place called The Hummingbird.  Much had happened in town up to this point, but I am sure many will agree this venue was a defining part of Birmingham’s story.
The music played was outstanding, slow jams like Kariya’s “Let me Love You”, through to outright bangers like “LFO”.
I have compiled a mix of tracks that aren’t necessarily the biggest or best known, but they all allow me to be transported back to those Friday nights and beyond, to places like Spectrum and Amnesia.  These are times before the hardcore revolution, a time where you didn’t have to pledge allegiance to being ‘hardcore’ or ‘mellow’, to a time where you just went out, danced, and lost yourself in whatever it was you ‘did’
I dedicate this podcast to the army of people that I have stood and rocked next to in a venue, or lay next to on a carpet or sofa… I love you all !
