On Friday I played at one of the nicest venues I’ve seen in a while, newly opened this year, the Teressa Lounge in Belgrade, Serbia.
I’ve had some great times in Serbia over the years with my good friend Goran Starcevic, alas this gig was not one of them. It pains me to say I didn’t have the best of times since the owners were so hospitable and the venue really was breathtaking, situated right on the walls of one of oldest fortresses in the area and backing onto Belgrade Zoo (you could lean over and see the Lions and Tigers).
All that aside, despite Goran being able to play some nice deeper grooves to open the night, most of the crowd were not in the slightest bit interested in what I had to play and I wasn’t in the slightest bit interested in pampering to their commercial needs, mainly because I wouldn’t have a clue anymore what is classed as commercial or what everyone in the more mainstream crowds are listening to anymore.
I put a little footage together to show how lovely the place is.
I now have Suncebeat to look forward to on Wednesday where I am confident I can totally be myself behind the decks… I’ll see how I feel after that before making any sweeping statements that I almost made yesterday !
