Ahead of my trip to ‘the Dam’ this weekend I threw some questions at Marlon van der Kust to give some extra exposure outside of their city to one of Holland’s finest brands.
Who are you?
My name is Marlon van der Kust aka Marly Mar or Mr MONDAY®. I am, what you call, a classic dj/promoter and been working in the Amsterdam scene for more them 20 years with some successful steady concepts. People call me Mr MONDAY® cause I’ve added an extra party day to the weekend 😉
How long have you been promoting your night ?
We’ve started MONDAY® in 2008 but as it being a weekly night we are counting the years double 😉 Since then it has been a steady night. We see ourselves as a small player with an international reach. We feature a lot of local talents but also the the big dutch names have passed the venue. We have two rooms. Our base is a deep soulfull afro sound in one room but we are not scared to take groovy tech house trip. Lets say we don’t like to be cornered on one style. In the basement we program female friendly R&B/hiphop.
Which other guests have you had ?
Almost every dutch dj of any meaning has been on our line up and we invite internationals guest on a regular base. We were honored to have Spen, Karizma, Atjazz, Timmy Regisford, Spinna, Dennis Ferrer, Zepherin Saint amomgst others on our line up.
Tell me about your residents:
Myself of course, and most of the times I play a b2b set with Cl’audio a talented dutch dj in the upper house room. The basement is the domain of one of the best R&B/hiphop dj’s we know in the netherlands.
Tell me about the venue:
Supperclub is a creatively driven goliath that stimulates all senses backed with 21 years of experience in food, drink, art, entertainment and above all pushing creative boundaries. From the club to the cocktail bar and from the restaurant to the gallery; supperclub is one of these unique places where experiments come to life.
That’s why, for more than twenty years, supperclub has been the place to be for creative people. It is a true free state where all your senses are stimulated and in which you are encouraged to let go of your inhibitions and release your creativity.
Tell me about what you set out to achieve with the night:
Our slogan is “FUCK THE WEEKEND WE PARTY ON MONDAY”! Born out of frustration that partying is limited to the weekend. We like to share that thought in several major cities in the world and make people be part of our movement.

Other exciting news you’d like to share about yourself or the party ?
We are working on a MONDAY® brand in Dubai. After that we want to try London and LA. All cities have a Supper club restaurant.
