Today I received news that one of the best online House Music portals, SSRadio, is facing possible closure.
Before reading the whys and wherefores of their plight, let me tell you why this is important to me and more than likely you too !
Remember The Vocal Booth Club Sessions ? My fortnightly podcast that I used to send out was born on SSRadio and was regularly the top of the download chart, way before some bloke called Grant nicked the idea and decided to do his own show on there. You might have heard of Grant Nelson ? Housecall ? Yup, brought to the world first courtesy of SSRadio. There are also many of the Vocal Booth Family that have shows on SSRadio or have met courtesy of mutual friends.
If you were a regular subscriber to my podcasts where I got busy in the mix without the chat, then I ask that you follow the link and do what you can to help.
I have always been very ‘vocal’ about how grateful I am to Pressure Radio for giving me the platform to create The Vocal Booth Family, well some of that credit also has to go to SSRadio because I know I also gained a lot of ‘fans’ that became friends from my mixes and subsequent DJ sets at some of the SSRadio parties (remember the Boat party !!?)
As one true house music fan to another, I ask you to dig deep and (of course only IF you can) do whatever possible to help.
I’m not afraid to be as bold as to suggest you give a £25 donation if you are able. DON’T let that scare you though, you can donate as little as £1 !
*I actually stopped asking for money for charities etc a long time ago but I know that this will reach and be heard by many house heads who will feel obliged to help !
