After taking time off for my son’s Birthday and then the fiasco of the flight restrictions causing another weekend without gigs, I am looking forward to a very big month of May indeed.
Probably the strongest run of gigs I have ever had in one month takes me to a selection of my favourite gis, to meet some of my favourite people, playing some of my favourite music. I truly am hyped !
As well as the club gigs, I have the release of my track with Nica Brooke on Sounds of the Booth coming next week (5th May), see my previous post for the full video including all the words for those essential sing-a-long moments.
I have also been busy remixing a couple of tracks which should be finished by the end of the month and I am very excited to see the return of Soul Central Productions for 2010. Production and arrangment in place, tomorrow I will head across to D10 studios with Deep Josh to bring to life an idea I have wanted to unleash for some time.. Timmy Vegas and I have been enjoying some great success on our solo efforts but now it is time for another banger !! Full information on that to follow.
Hype for the Vocal Booth Weekender continues to grow daily and I am caught between not wanting to wish the summer away and wanting the party to be here NOW ! I cannot wait to share the images with you of the area, the venues and the hotels.. more on that to come. Full information on the event can be found here.
Gigs
The first colaboration between Uber and The Vocal Booth was a Christmas reunion for all those that ventured over to Spain in October, and was their most successful party to date. Hoping to continue with this fine pairing, The Fanatix headline alongside Carl, Paul, Myself and Samson Lewis. We are also proud to present Leo LeVox performing “Rescue Me“, as released on Sounds of the Booth in March.
This is going to be a cracker of a party and my first bank holiday in Birmingham for some time.
With only a few days to recover from the big weekend, it is time for me to return to one of THE biggest events the soulful house scene has to offer.
I am currently awaiting confirmation of my set time so I can start to prepare my music for it.. a gig of this magnitude needs some serious thinking beforehand for the pedigree of music lover that attend.
The last time I played in 2003 , I used mainly vinyl and was too busy worrying about the record jumping on the delicately balanced bungee ropes to enjoy my set. This time around I am determined to enjoy every second of it and bring my A game.
Check this out for a line up.
What better way to recover from two huge weekends back-to-back than with a little sunshine and luxury ?
MustHaveSoul @360 is one of the best venues I get to play at and I am looking forward to taking my wife on a much deserved break there for an extended weekend. I also cannot wait to meet Schooly & Jenna’s beautiful daugter out there as well as hooking up with many friends I have out in the UAE.
A weekend off and more essential studio times leads me up to another of my most treasured gigs, returning for the first time since we were reunited in January with it’s true home. I cannot wait to get back behind the decks for Soul Heaven at the Ministry of Sound, joining Louie Vega, Joey Negro and all the residents. Another bank holiday event means that all the crew will be out in force and I can show off my lovely new tan.
The next day, Sunday 30th May, I head back up the M6 to Coventry, to a venue I haven’t visited for some years now. Originally scheduled for the beginning of the month the new date suits me just fine.
WWJD Afterdark & Like Minded Presents: ANDY WARD (awaiting flyer)
Taking place at Carey’s nightclub, these events seem to be growing in popularity at a ridiculous rate, so I look forward to having the opportunity to play some bigger tracks alongside some of the funkier grooves flowing through now, in time for the summer.
