What’s poppin’?
I’ve had a few people hit me up recently, asking if I was OK, seeing as things have been so quiet on my blog and Facebook wall. Well I’m afraid to say that, yes, things are going wonderfully so you’ll have to watch someone else lose their mind in public, for the time being at least… I’m sure my next breakdown is just around the corner.
The last major bit of news was when I was helping out at Michelle’s work, driving around golf courses and putting flyers on car windscreens and talking to the golfers I met along the way to help promote The Great Golf Company. It was fun.. for a few days. After three weeks, though, the monotony of it all got to me and I had to admit defeat. I was grateful to have gotten out of the house and enjoyed earning some pocket money.
While out and about my mind was constantly working on how to increase the effectiveness of the marketing and also on the VBW. It was then when I had the brainwave to start helping my friends out with their issues, I am contacted on a daily basis being asked for advise and pointers, so why not capitalise on this ? I wrote a page on this site and posted it on my Facebook wall. Immediately I was contacted by several interested people who wanted a website/podcast/app. WardsWebsites was born.
I have since spoken to a local marketing company and am now officially set up to design, create and maintain fully functioning websites, as well as providing hosting and securing domain names. Take a look.. proper tings !!
This time next year…. (click)
No doubt the company site will change a million times while I get it exactly how I want it (plus the logo is only temporary). If you read the ‘About us’ section I give some words on my goals.. to basically help people get their own site for a fraction of what it would cost anywhere else. I made a joke the other day to my friend… I see myself as the brand new DJ in a club who’s only been mixing for a few weeks, using all the tools at his disposal to wing his way through a set and despised by the professionals who took years to perfect their trade. That’s me.. the newcomer to the web design world with all the tools at my disposal to get the job done, underpricing the competition !
There is a hell of a lot more to websites than just how they look, of this I am fully aware and I’m not about to take on designing sites for multi-national corporations (then again saying that I have the full backing of a team who provide anything outside my skill set.) Initial feedback is brilliant and I already have a backlog of customers. If you know anyone who needs a website.. you know I’m the man who can !!
So that’s the main thing occupying my time right now. Other news… we are just back from a brilliant time in London. We spent 5 days there after buying tickets for the X-Factor live tour at Wembley Arena as part of the kids’ Xmas presents. OMG… I don’t even want to look at how much money I spent. It was well worth it though.. we took in a proper bus tour, Natural History Museum, did Madam Tussaud’s, cinema at Leicester Square, XFactor, shopping.. priceless memories for the kids. I am in a very good place right now.
Two weeks ago I had a great time over in the UK, spent a few days in the studio with Timmy Vegas working on new Soul Central business, I got to catch up with some old school friends I’ve not seen for almost 20 years and despite being under the weather, enjoyed seeing one or two of you over at Tempo at the Brickhouse.
I now have a few week’s off before heading up to Warrington for the VB reunion. I am finding it hard to focus on my music right now with so much else going on, and until I have to start thinking about my gigs the last thing I am concerned about is new music, meaning for the next few weeks I won’t be live on the radio but I will be sending out some nice bits for you to check out on the podcast. Right at this second doing a live mix is the last thing on my mind but I’ll get a new VBCS as and when I am inspired to do it, it usually only takes one HOT tune to set me off.
So, that’s me for now. Don’t be a stranger.. I hope this finds you well and you’re tackling 2012 as best as possible ?
Here are some shoddy snaps off my iPod.
2 Mar 25. VB Radio Show with Andy Ward.
2 hours of forgotten gems from the vinyl archives. Back to the original format of unearthing lost treasures in all their forms.
