On Friday I travelled to Tallinn for a last-minute booking at Club Privé in Tallinn. I have a lot of love for Tallinn, it was one of the first cities outside of my usual trips to Ibiza that I played in Europe, over 15 years ago.
After a disgusting 4am alarm call, I made the gruelling 14 hour journey across 3 flights and finally made it to my hotel room in sub-zero temperatures that would tip -13 across the weekend. Room service – disco nap – club. Sorted.
The club has undergone a few transformations since it opened and will actually be celebrating its 10yr anniversary this Friday with Joey Negro, happy birthday ! It was looking as slick as ever with great decor, LED screens and VIP area. The crowd has changed over the years there and what was once one of the coolest places to be seen is now more of a mainstream venue, the last time I played there was for a Playboy Xmas Party which was, if I’m honest, horrible to play at. This time around I am pleased to say the crowd were up for more non-commercial tunes (good job) and DJ Widenski did a great job in warming up nicely so I could come on and do my usual ‘up and down and from side to side selection’. I had them rocking for 2 and half hours before the club started to thin out as usual around 4am. Widenski finished off.
Due to the crazy flights I had to stay until Sunday, the rest of the weekend gave me the chance to catch up with some friends and visit Widenski’s lovely new house he has had built on the outskirts of the town. I am happy to report I did not drink one bit of alcohol all weekend although I ate like a horse. The Dryathlon continues and I have some sweating to do this week to work off all the meals !
Respect to Club Privé for having me back and of course to Widenski for making it happen. Good luck with the house and the new arrival. It was great to hook up with Ecstatic, Ku, Spin Science, Sofia Rubina, Villu Veski and Dave Storm & family (also expected a new arrival).
I have attached a few shoddy photos off my phone I took along the way, the official snaps will be live on the club site soon and I’ll post them here also.
I now have a few weeks before I return to the UK for Housewurk in Oxford with Lil Joey and Tony Nanton on 9th Feb. Details to follow.
