You should be more than aware of this track from the recent plays on The Vocal Booth.
Castlebed is Rustin Davis, a fine talent out of Florida who has several releases over the last decade under his belt. Whilst he is no actual newcomer to the scene, I feel he still has much more to offer and am proud to have him on the label. Joining him is another wonderful artist who personifies dedication and commitment. Durand Ross has been contacting me for a few years now, constantly sending me songs for consideration to work on a project with him.. as soon as I heard “I Can Do Bad” I knew this was the track for the label. A fantastic talent with a promising songwriting career ahead of him, he is a rare commodity who prefers to shun the limelight and let his words do the talking.
The original mix was extended to make it more club friendly but don’t let Quentin Harris hear me say that (you need to check his Facebook wall for that in-joke), and on my request an instrumental version re worked to add a little more grit.
For my part, I chose to do more of an ‘edit’, changing up the drums but keeping most of the original parts and arranging it as I saw fit. I really enjoyed working on the District 9 Dub. Even now, half way into the year, I have fond memories of walking around Sydney listening to the track on my iPod, whilst developing it in my hotel room back in January.
Both of my mixes were brought to life, as usual, by Deep Josh @ D10 in Murcia.
Finishing off the package, we welcome Uncle Milty to the family from Chicago, and what a job he did on this. I am sure you will agree that there is a mix for most of you on this package.
As always, we ask for your support upon release, and please share the link on your Facebook pages (click video to take you to YouTube page)
