March beckons, Christmas and New Year are a distant memory. The long days of my scuba adventures and the flood watching down under seem more like 6 months ago than 6 weeks !
I am thoroughly enjoying being back on air with the Vocal Booth and look forward to another mix this week for the Vocal Booth Club Sessions. I have about 50 new tunes waiting to be burnt to CD but I have to get a new ink jet printer for the labels before I start making them, as my previous one died on me last week. RIP.. it served me well for many many years.
I have been enjoying some DIY at home, I ripped out some seating/lounging area that I had constructed a few years ago and now made way for a dining table and chairs in my front conservatory. I have also stripped and covered the pine woodwork of the front door and banister on the stairs with white gloss, making my lounge feel much brighter and larger. With the dining table gone, I can now knock some double doors into the side of the living room to open up the lounge onto the terrace. All of these are just a couple of cheaper cosmetic changes to update the feel of the house and take my mind off the fact that I really want a new sofa and downstairs bathroom, but they are the last of my concerns at the moment. I also want to update and move my kitchen out to the rear extension, get two new cars and live the rest of my days in the Seychelles. Not too much to ask.
“Why is he telling me this ?” you ask. Well my change in mindset means rather than being so professional with my blogs and shows, so as to speak to the people ‘en masse’, I want to be more personal with you guys that take the time to delve a little deeper and actually listen to what I have to say.
So back to business. I continue to get a lot of time-waster promoters contacting me about possible gigs, I just ignore them all now until someone comes good with a deposit. In the past I have been a litte too pleasant in dealing with these people, meaning a lot of time spent thinking about and organising gigs that never materialise. This reminds me, I have also been trying to contact various agents about singers and DJs to book for the Vocal Booth Weekender, I wonder if these artists appreciate just what a bunch of idiots work at these places.. I have given up already on 3 people to book simply because the person representing them is such a prick!!
Plans continue to move forward with the weekender, if you want to be kept up to date on them all, please subscribe to the mailing list at www.vocalboothweekender.com. I am trying my hardest not to let this event take over my life right now, but the more I make plans, the more exciting it gets and so I find myself getting carried away with it.
Looking forward to April, we have the first of our Vocal Booth reunions in London, click on the flyer for full details on this event and I hope that you can come join me for a party of mammoth proportions.
Further gig possibilities remain uncertain for March & April, so I will continue to enjoy my down time at home and get it ready for a lovely long summer.
I hope this find you well my lovely friends and I look forward to catching up with you face to face as soon as possible.
Oh, one final thing. On 10th March the Vocal Booth live show will be handed over to a special live event in Miami for the WMC, so be sure to join us in the chat room to hear some great music and catch up on the banter that is bound to take place.
